After seeing infomercials on TV for mineral cosmetics, I thought the concept was really cool, so I began my own research on the web for other companies. I came across Afterglow and decided to try it. Both my mother and I are breast cancer patients. We were diagnosed just months apart. Chemotherapy changed our skin and complexions greatly. I was thrown into menopause and my skin was dry and lifeless. My mother's skin lost all it's elasticity and became very thin and transparent. We went to the American Cancer Society's 'Look Good, Feel Better' program in hopes of finding makeup products that could help us regain a healthy look. In my search for cruelty-free cosmetics, I found Afterglow on the EWG - Skin Deep Web Site. It is almost impossible to find a foundation to match my skin tone, so I emailed the color of foundation and the brand I normally use to Customer Service. The Representative recommended a particular sample set.... and the middle shade matched my skin tone-- perfectly! I absolutely adore the foundation. Since my mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, my worries about how women are getting breast cancer increased. After discovering the EWG.com website and checking all of my 'lotions and potions' to see what risk they provided . . . I tossed everything out! I had been a Mary Kay customer for at least 10 years, and had a lot of cosmetics to replace. To my relief, I only had to purchase the Afterglow foundation, blush, lip liner and lipstick. I simply mix the powder with my moisturizer, and I'm good to go. I think the blush will probably last forever. . . I use a very micro amount and get great results! The lip liner lasts all day and I feel much better about using a natural lip liner/lipstick since it is, after all, a product that is right on my mouth!
